At Blowout Sax we learn by ear. First you learn how to produce the notes
and then how to play tunes with funky sounds. You can sound good from
day one. We train the ear by listening to the great vocalists working
on phrasing, timing and tone. This leads us to the glory tracks of Wesley MacGoogan's spine-tingling Alto Sax solo, 'Will You', Candy Dulfer's 'Lily Was Here', Paul Desmond's 'Take Five' and 'One Step Beyond' by Lee 'Bix' Thompson of Madness. You will learn from the great masters of the saxophone ways of phrasing, how to develop your individual sound. Click on the links below to here quots by legendary saxophonist Will Gregory on why he sees the Blowout Sax School being so successful. Then we take the stabilisers off and you can play on your own. Working with your teacher you will further develop your own style, playing along to backing tracks from Bob Marley to Charlie Parker and being recorded on a digital 16 track recorder so you can listen to and learn from your own performance, when you take home a CD of your playing. We believe the most exciting part of playing the Sax is jamming. We
get you jamming, improvising to specially written music, jam.Impro.Com,
so
you can play your own thing. To give you a taste of playing in public
we hold Blowout Sax Gigs three times a year.
While your teacher is grinning from the side of the stage, you will
play in front of two hundred cheering
people, live, with a top-class band backing you all the way. And you'll
love it. |
